Reading and studying for ADHD & dyslexic students

Five reading modes, AI study tools, and a study planner, all in one app. Built around how ADHD, dyslexic, and neurodivergent brains process text. Not how textbooks assume they should.

Free forever plan ADHD & dyslexia friendly Every study tool in one app

No card required. No expiring trial. Android live now, iOS coming soon.

The reading problem nobody warns you about.

You arrive at university with hundreds of pages to read every week. Lectures move fast. Deadlines stack up. The reading list grows faster than you can get through it.

So you skim. Or you re-read the same paragraph four times because nothing stuck. Or you give up on the reading and hope the lecture covers enough.

If you have ADHD or dyslexia, it’s worse. Most study apps assume everyone reads the same way. They don’t. And most reading apps that exist offer one technique, RSVP, and nothing else. No study tools. No accessibility. No design choices for the way an ADHD or dyslexic brain processes text.

A meaningful proportion of university students are neurodivergent. The reading app market has built almost nothing specifically for them. Accruva is the one that does.

Five ways to read. Find the one that fits your brain.

Every other reading app gives you one technique. Accruva gives you five reading modes plus an ADHD/Zen accessibility toggle, because no two brains read the same way.

ADHD/Zen accessibility toggle

An accessibility setting in Settings > Accessibility, not a sixth reading mode. Flip it on and the screen drops to pure black with a single word in the centre, every control hidden until you tap. Pair it with Focus mode for zero visual competition. Free.

Free, built for ADHD

Focus (RSVP)

One word at a time with Optimal Recognition Point highlighting. The 2025 Moussaoui study found ADHD readers gain comprehension under RSVP where neurotypicals lose it.

Speed-focused

Teleprompter

Smooth scroll with word-by-word highlighting. Configurable 1-line, 3-line, 5-line, or full-page views.

Easing in

Chunking

Phrase grouping with line-aware boundaries. Teal highlighting or ORP emphasis. Built for dense academic material and dyslexic readers.

Dyslexic readers

Bold Flow

Leading-letter bolding on every word, three intensity levels (30%, 40%, 50%). Read with full sentence context.

Context readers

Scroll

Free-form scrollable text with position tracking. Annotate, highlight, take notes at your own pace. Traditional reading, with proper tooling and the same library and study system as the other modes.

Annotation-heavy study

Reading that works with your brain, not against it.

Turn any document into a study session.

Import a PDF. Tap once. Quizzes, flashcards, or a summary. Free gives you two AI generations per tool a day, plus up to three more per tool via short rewarded ads.

AI quiz generation

Multiple-choice questions pulled from your own documents, with explanations. Specific to what you’re studying, not generic.

Reading streaks

Daily streak counter with milestone celebrations. Free users get two streak freezes a week via rewarded ads. Pro users get two a week plus automatic weekend protection so Saturday and Sunday don’t break the streak.

30 badges, all free

30 achievement badges across reading, speed, time, streaks, study, and special categories. Every one earnable on the free tier. From your first chapter to your hundredth session.

Visual analytics

WPM progress charts, a reading heatmap calendar, and a Knowledge Mastery ring with three pillar scores for reading, flashcards, and quizzes. See where you’re improving.

Student FAQs

The questions we get most.

If yours isn’t here, drop us a line at support@accruva.app.

Will Accruva help me get through my reading list?
That’s what it was built for. Five reading modes let you find one that clicks with your brain. The AI quiz, flashcard, and summary tools turn any PDF into study material in seconds. The planner stops deadlines from sneaking up on you. Add Camera OCR for physical textbooks and you have a full study toolkit on the free tier.
I have ADHD or dyslexia. Will it work for me?
ADHD and dyslexic readers are the audience the app was built for. Focus mode (RSVP) and the ADHD/Zen accessibility toggle are designed for ADHD readers. Atkinson Hyperlegible (the Braille Institute’s dyslexia-targeted font) with preset letter, word, and line spacing, plus Bold Flow and Chunking, help dyslexic readers. The RSVP study for ADHD readers and the Accessibility page have the full detail.
Can I scan my physical textbooks?
Yes. Camera OCR lets you scan any page with your phone, with multi-page batch scanning for whole chapters. It runs on-device via Google ML Kit, so pages never get uploaded anywhere. Free on every plan.
How much does it cost?
Free forever for the core app: all five reading modes (up to 400 WPM), a 20-document library, 20 flashcards and 20 reviews a day, two AI generations per tool a day (plus three more per tool via short rewarded ads), the full study planner, every accessibility feature, all 30 badges. Pro lifts the speed cap to 1,000 WPM and adds an unlimited library, 150 AI generations a day, cloud sync, the Smart Review dashboard, and ad-free reading. Study Cram at £1.99 a week gives you Pro features for an exam crunch with a 50-a-day AI cap. Full breakdown on the pricing page.
Will this teach me to read 1,000 words a minute with full comprehension?
No, and we’d be lying if we said yes. The 1,000+ WPM speed-reading claims you’ve seen on YouTube don’t hold up in research. The 2016 Rayner review in Psychological Science in the Public Interest found comprehension drops sharply as reading speed climbs past natural rates. What Accruva does is help you find a reading style your brain works well with, then settle at a sustainable pace. The science page walks through which claims hold up and which don’t.
Can I use it offline?
All five reading modes, your imported library, flashcards, the planner, and the Pomodoro timer work fully offline. The AI tools (quiz, flashcard, and summary generation) need an internet connection because they call the model in the cloud.
What’s the difference between Free and Study Cram?
Free gets you all five reading modes up to 400 WPM, a 20-document library, 20 flashcards and 20 reviews a day, two AI generations per tool a day (plus three more per tool via short rewarded ads), every accessibility feature, all 30 badges, and the full planner. Study Cram at £1.99 a week gives you Pro features for an exam crunch: 1,000 WPM ceiling, unlimited library and flashcards, 50 AI generations a day, the Smart Review dashboard, cloud sync, ad-free. Cancel anytime.
